The continuation of the much anticipated Fishrot trial has suffered another postponement to Tuesday after it came to light that one of the accused, Ricardo Gustavo, has been hospitalised.

Gustavo, who is reportedly battling congestive heart failure, is currently receiving medical care. The announcement was made in court today by former Justice Minister Sacky Shanghala, one of the co-accused in the case.

In a series of new legal developments, Shanghala informed the court that he has petitioned the Supreme Court on a question of law, seeking further clarity on a specific legal issue that could impact the proceedings. Judge Moses Chinhengo, however, indicated that this petition does not concern him.

Shanghala has also submitted a fresh application requesting that his case be separated from that of the other accused individuals. The rationale behind this request has not been fully detailed, although he indicated that separating his case would allow for the trial of the other accused to proceed unhindered.

The court is expected to address these new developments when it reconvenes tomorrow, pending updates on Gustavo's health condition.
