The Swapo Party-led government has made undisputed progress since 1990 and continues to ensure that peace and stability prevail.

This was the view of Swapo Party presidential candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at the party's rally at Ongwediva.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the government reduced poverty incidents and the proportion of the population living below the poverty line from 69% in 1990 to 17% in 2023.

Furthermore, she said the youth, who are the majority population, are being taken care of through education, with enrolment at the primary level standing at 98% in 2023 from 60% in 1990.

Ndaitwah appealed to the voters to give the Swapo Party another mandate to continue its development agenda.

"Who says we do not care about the youth? Development is a process and not a destination. We need to acknowledge the steps taken while taking stock of what needs to be done. It was through the Swapo Party that liberation was achieved, and it is through the Swapo Party that economic recovery and advancement will be obtained. And all our programmes, be it in the economic or social sectors, are geared towards the economic independence of our country and its people."
