The Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service released a statement Sunday night on the status of the renovations at the Independence Stadium.

The Ministry said it had taken note of Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's concerns as well as the Namibian people's frustrations with the current condition of the national stadium.

It states that the ministry is working diligently to finalise the appointment of a lead consultant, a process that is being delayed by the strict requirements of the Public Procurement Act of 2015 and the need for stakeholder consultations.

The Ministry assured the public that it will continue to update on the progress until it is finalised.
