The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has outlined its approach to selecting parliamentary candidates, whereby it is using a system where all delegates are also candidates.

The party is drawing 112 delegates, eight from each region, who will present themselves to each other and vote for one another before being assessed by a panel of independent assessors.

These assessors will then rank the candidates, with the top 86 names making the final party list.

Candidates are allowed to vote for anyone other than a candidate from their region of origin. This, the party says, is to discourage nepotism and regionalism and to ensure equitable representation.

The party is also inviting 40 additional "observers" from across Namibia, covering rural and marginalised areas.

The party also plans to launch its manifesto on Saturday. The key themes emphasised by the IPC speakers include respecting constitutional rights, preventing abuse of power, and ensuring inclusive, merit-based representation—contrasting their approach with perceived shortcomings of other parties.
