The Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company has revealed plans to construct a state-of-the-art beachfront hotel and private medical facility.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Fluksman Samuehl, said at a media briefing that plans are at an advanced stage for the third phase of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Project.

"We are taking this initiative together with the private sector and will be able to make that announcement within the next few weeks in terms of this public-private partnership on constructing a hotel, a beachfront hotel, a state-of-the-art one in Luderitz on the land that we own. Because we don't see any other entity doing that, and we are doing that, this hotel has to be built. So we had this conversation with our line minister. The second one is that we are busy putting together a proposal to establish a modern private hospital."

The landmark hotel will be constructed at a cost of close to N$500 million.

Samuehl explained the envisaged developments will be funded through a public-private partnership mechanism.

"The Namibian government certainly is convinced the Lüderitz Waterfront is on the right way, and we have no doubt that we'll get the support we need from our shareholders."

Moreover, Samuehl also announced a space in the Luderitz Waterfront Complex would soon be transformed into a modern television and radio studio facility.

This project, he added, will be implemented in partnership with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.

nbc Director General Stanley Similo, in a joint announcement, said the partnership represents a profound commitment to propelling Namibia's media landscape into the digital age.
