The Swapo Party has committed a budget of over N$85 billion over the next five years if given the mandate to continue governing.
The billions of dollars will go towards, among others, massive job creation for unemployed Namibians.
Swapo Party Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah launched the party's election manifesto in Windhoek today.
The document to be implemented between 2025 and 2030 detailed its intentions and projects if it wins in the November elections.
"I must make it very clear this budget is for the projects that are directly falling on the government; it does not include the private sector, which we are engaging to play their role in job creation and in their contribution to grow our economy for the benefit of all. Equally, we commit to developing the sports infrastructure to create over 29,000 jobs over the next five years. Yes, some of these jobs are seen to be temporary when you talk about construction, but when you put up infrastructure, it has a great potential for permanent employment to be created."
Vocational training and skills development were also featured in the manifesto.
"We, therefore, commit to expanding on skill development and enhancement for vocational training facilities for this industry to occupy its rightful place in development; therefore, in perusing the Namibian dream, we commit to paying special attention to education, arts, culture, and the creative industry by injecting N$26.3 billion over the next five years to create over 35,000 jobs."
The Swapo Party-led government will also increase the participation of rural communities in tourism activities and transform the agricultural sector.
"Over the next years, we are going to improve the implementation of those programmes to ensure that there is sustainable water supply throughout the country, including rural areas for both agricultural, domestic, and industrial use. For that reason, we will also make it a priority to construct a desalination plant."
The fishing sector, steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, chemical, and jewellery production will also receive due attention.
The party's manifesto is also instructing the mining sector to ensure there is local beneficiation, value addition, and protection of the country's natural resources.
