Handball, a relatively new sport in Namibia, has been experiencing a surge in popularity since its official introduction last year.

With a growing number of participants and a decentralized approach, the sport is rapidly expanding across the country.

The Handball Federation has been instrumental in promoting the sport's growth through various initiatives.

They have organized development workshops in different regions and appointed dedicated executives and directors to raise awareness and provide information about handball.

The Federation's chairman highlighted their current efforts to establish a development structure in the Oshana Region.

One of the primary challenges facing handball in Namibia is limited funding and a lack of suitable accommodations.

Given the sport's developmental stage, many expenses have been covered by individuals, as external support remains scarce.

Despite these challenges, the Handball Federation has made significant strides.

They recently participated in an International Handball Federation event in Zimbabwe and have already selected a national team based on the performance of players in regional tournaments.

As handball continues to gain popularity, it is essential to provide ongoing support, particularly in terms of funding and infrastructure, to ensure its long-term sustainability and success in Namibia.
