The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has announced that its beneficiaries will receive their tax relief refunds on November 28, in line with the recently enacted Income Tax Amendment Act.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, GIPF confirmed that efforts are underway to streamline its payment processes to ensure the refunds are issued efficiently and promptly.

GIPF Chief Executive Martin Inkumbi expressed relief on behalf of the beneficiaries, noting that individual taxpayers will now be exempt from paying tax on the first N$100,000 of their income. "We are pleased that our members can now breathe easier," said Inkumbi, urging patience as the fund finalises payment logistics.

Finance Minister Ipumbu Shimii announced that all government employees will receive their tax refunds on October 7th, while some private companies affected the tax return on the September salary.
