President Nangolo Mbumba and his German counterpart, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will hold official talks in part to focus on relations between Namibia and Germany.
The Presidency has confirmed that the two leaders would meet on the sidelines of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference taking place next week.
Press Secretary, Dr. Alfredo Hengari, told nbc News the talks are taking place at a time when relations are at a critical stage in terms of a number of issues.
"Of course, not to mention the current ongoing negotiations, the closure of the sad chapter of the Genocide of 1904, and also Namibia's efforts to pursue green industrialisation, so several issues will be raised in those bilateral talks, and of course the importance of stronger economic relations between the two countries, where Germany is playing a critical role in supporting Namibia's efforts to strengthen our position as a key hub for green industries. So you have the political part of the relations, but the economic part of Namibia-Germany relations is critically important, and President Mbumba, during the working visit, will seek to strengthen on all fronts. I should also mention that the Hamburg Sustainability Conference attracts key leaders from across the globe, senior leaders from the UN, as well as PMs who have requested bilateral meetings with President Mbumba, including the PM of Vietnam, so it's a key platform for negotiations."
