Young people are also affected by environmental threats such as pollution and climate change that could be harmful to their well-being as well as negatively impact their communities.
For this reason, the School Environmental Club for the |Khomas Region was launched to promote environmental awareness and sustainability among learners and foster a culture of environmental stewardship.
The launch which was organised by learners from various schools comprised role-plays, performances, and interactive sessions designed to engage learners and promote the School Environmental Club's mission.
The event marked a significant step in the learners' collective effort to build a healthier and more sustainable future through their shared commitment and collective action.
The founder of the School Environmental Club, Inomuinjo Kapimbi, who is also a learner from one of the 15 schools that attended the event, said one of their initiatives involves creating a garden as part of a broader environmental and community-focused effort.
The Chairperson of the |Khomas Regional Council, John Moonde, emphasised that the initiative is a powerful reminder that the future of the nation rests in the hands of the youth.
He also encouraged the learners to use the platform to voice their concerns, share ideas, and take action.
The learners were encouraged to adopt an action-orientated approach, focusing on real-world impacts and aligning educational outcomes with broader societal and financial development goal
