The Director General of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc), Stanley Similo, is spearheading efforts to strengthen cooperation between the broadcaster's headquarters and its regional offices, driving overall growth.

Similo, along with nbc’s senior leadership, recently gathered staff from four regional offices at the Dome in Swakopmund.

Employees from Otjiwarongo, Tsumkwe, and Gobabis joined their coastal colleagues for a series of presentations.

Reflecting on nbc’s journey, Similo stated, "Considering where we’ve come from, the challenges we’ve faced, and the successes we’ve recently achieved, it was important for me to visit all the regions. I wanted to personally express my appreciation and address key issues that affect our employees' daily lives.

This includes policy updates, the future of the business, and upcoming elections, among other critical topics."

He also highlighted some of the corporation’s recent accomplishments, particularly in expanding its local content offerings and improving technical quality.

"We’ve significantly grown our local programming for both radio and TV, including news. Since September last year, NBC 1 and 2 have been broadcasting in full HD. I’m also preparing to make another exciting announcement in the next week or two regarding further progress," Similo shared. "I’m very pleased with the strides we’re making, and our employees deserve credit for these achievements. I’d also like to acknowledge the ongoing support of our line ministry in ensuring we have the necessary resources to continue improving."

Similo expressed confidence in the direction NBC is headed and praised the dedication of the staff in driving these positive changes.
