The Oranjemund Town Council is hosting its annual Diamond Festival in Oranjemund under the theme "Oranjemund, Your Preferred Business Destination."
The festival, which started on the 30th of October and will continue until the 2nd of November, was officially opened by Oranjemund Mayor Elias Kasemba.
The mayor reflected on the legacy of Oranjemund town, its potential, and its ambitions for the future, adding that the town not only aspires to be a historic mining town but a vibrant hub for innovation, trade, and economic growth as well.
He said the focus of the town council is on infrastructure development, housing, and environmental sustainability, which is already bearing fruit.
Kasemba noted that through collaborative efforts and strategic investments, they have serviced over 500 erven across various extensions, addressing the housing needs of the Oranjemund community.
The town council also boasts significant investments made in road infrastructure, with upgrades spanning 2.8 kilometres nearing completion, enhancing safety for the residents and visitors.
Another milestone is the newly inaugurated fire station worth N$12.5 million.
Oranjemund Constituency Councillor Lazarus Nangolo appealed to the leadership and stakeholders that the Diamond Festival should always carry on as a symbol of unity.
An exhibitor, Monica Shipanga, came all the way from Ondangwa, and she appreciated the opportunity offered by the Diamond Festival.
