The Epukiro Constituency has made significant strides in the areas of agriculture, rural electrification, health, and information and communication infrastructure.
This was revealed by the constituency councillor, Packy Pakarae, during the commemoration of the Ovambanderu's 100-year remembrance at Omauezonjanda.
Epukiro Councillor, Packy Pakarae, says notable progress has been made in regional development through service delivery.
The constituency now has a state-of-the-art veterinary office, auction pens, and forestry office to provide much-needed services to communities.
On rural electrification, 18 villages have been electrified, helping the residents to come up with income-generating projects.
Twelve key roads in the area are proclaimed while others are being rehabilitated.
The constituency has three operational clinics and a mortuary at Post 3.
Pakarae maintains that plans are also underway to drill 12 more boreholes at Post 3 settlement before the end of this year to address the water crisis at the settlement, as N$7 million has been earmarked for this project.
"They have identified an area with high salinity and are also looking at areas that will give class E or B water; that's the borehole that will be drilled to address the issue of water provision, which is safe and healthy drinking water for the residence of the settlement. At the same time, we are continuing to pursue making sure that most of our villages have water, and that's why the identification of virgin land and also areas that are in desperate need of water, so we are estimating to drill more boreholes and to install over 20 boreholes so that people have portable water for human consumption and for livestock."
There is also ongoing construction of houses, a service station, and the installation of street lights powered by sunlight.
The Epukiro constituency has a population of 8000 inhabitants.
