The Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele, has officially launched the Omaruru Municipality's five-year strategic plan.

This strategic plan emphasizes the continued growth and development of the town.

!Nawases-Taeyele highlighted that the plan addresses essential community needs and will contribute to achieving national development objectives.

"The Namibian government is dedicated to supporting the efforts of local authorities. We recognize that realizing the goals outlined in this strategic plan requires both policy support and resource mobilization. As the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, we are committed to collaborating with the Omaruru Municipality to secure the necessary funding and ensure that projects are implemented efficiently and effectively."

!Nawases-Taeyele urged the municipality to prioritize disaster risk management in response to rapid urbanization.

"We are already facing challenges such as rapid urbanization, climate change, and other evolving pressures. Therefore, disaster risk management must remain a central focus. Being prepared and adaptable is not just important—it is essential for our long-term resilience. The success of this plan relies not only on municipal leadership but also on the active involvement of the community."

Omaruru Chief Executive Officer Valentinus Sindongo explained that the strategic plan envisions a modernized town.

"It outlines our current position, our direction, and the actions we will take to achieve our goals. Our vision is to transform Omaruru into a modern town with a strong historical heritage. By modernization, we mean a holistic approach, especially as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. Our mission is to provide quality municipal services that stimulate socio-economic development."

Omaruru Mayor Vincent Kahua also spoke at the event.

"The completion of this strategic plan is just the beginning. I assure you it serves as a blueprint, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that all planned initiatives are achieved within the established timelines."
