President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has made it clear that her rise to Namibia's highest office is a result of her leadership qualities, capabilities, merit, and ability to lead effectively and not her gender.

"As a Namibian woman, as a woman activist, we do not want to be wheelbarrowed; we must prove ourselves, and so we have been doing it, and that is why the number of women at the level of leadership is increasing in this country. let us continue and do not relax now that you have a woman president."
