The Namibian government says that, apart from compromised information from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, no personal data has been leaked from the government's data centre.

Executive director in the Office of the Prime Minister, I-Ben Nashandi, assured the public that the data that sits with the government is safe, adding that the government regularly updates its cybersecurity framework, with the last one done in September 2024.

The government has additionally isolated the compromised system for data protection.

Nashandi was speaking during an update on cybersecurity attacks targeting Namibian institutions.

About three weeks ago, hackers stole nearly 500,000 pieces of information, including personal and financial data belonging to senior government officials, including President Nangolo Mbumba, ministries, and other company clients.
