Skilled tailors and seamstresses are valuable contributors to the local workforce, driving economic activity and fostering social cohesion.

The nbc News team hit the streets of Windhoek to speak with local tailors and gain insight into how business has been throughout the year.

Many tailors shared that business has improved as opposed to the early start of the year.

Despite the challenges, they continue to support their families and themselves through their craft.

Maria Shilongo, who has been in the tailoring business for years, revealed that her journey began after failing to secure formal employment.

Dina Kahivesa, who specialises in making traditional Damara dresses, acknowledged that life as a tailor is not easy but expressed gratitude for earning enough to live by.

They say that overcoming obstacles requires resilience, determination, passion, and the will to succeed.
