The state-of-the-art Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre, constructed for N$103 million, is set to open its doors soon.
||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick made this announcement in her New Year's message.
The vocational training centre consists of four generic workshops, an administrative block, and a dormitory with a capacity of 140 boarders.
It will offer specialised vocational and technical training in the trade fields of industrial mechatronics, water technology, firefighting, and occupational health and safety.
An enrolment of about 650 students is expected.
"I am reliably informed that application forms will be available from the end of this month, in February. I encourage our young people from both ||Kharas and Hardap regions to seize this golden opportunity to enhance their skills by applying."
Governor Frederick furthermore called on young people to also make use of other educational opportunities presented through institutions of higher learning in the region, such as Unam Southern Campus and NUST.
"By enhancing their skills, they can improve their employability and contribute meaningfully to our economy."
The government funded the construction of the vocational training centre poised to become a centre of excellence for skills development, career advancement, and economic empowerment.
