Youth called to aspire entrepreneurship as a solution high unemployment rate

The Minister of Sports, Youth, and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero, has encouraged young people to aspire towards entrepreneurship as a solution to addressing the high rate of youth unemployment.

Spearheaded by the Begin To Imagine (BTI) youth group, the Expo is the first to be hosted by Bethanie Village.

Tjongarero made the call during the opening of the Expo at Bethanie Village in ||Kharas Region, where she pledged N$20 000 towards the hosting of the Expo.

Debmarine Namibia donates to Women's Action for Development

Debmarine Namibia has donated equipment to boost the Women's Action for Development's empowerment training programs at Keetmanshoop. 

The donated items that include needlework and hospitality equipment as well as computers are worth N$200,000. 

||kharas Governor Aletha Frederick handed over donations, which her office had sourced from Debmarine Namibia. 

Keetmanshoop Woman Action's for Development Coordinator welcomed the donation.

Neckartal Dam project anticipates promising outcomes

Once fully operational, the envisaged 5,000-hectare irrigation scheme at Neckartal Dam, on the outskirts of Keetmanshoop, will provide sufficient produce for not only the domestic market but exports as well.

The government invested N$5 billion in the construction of the Neckartal Dam, making it the biggest investment the government has ever made in the ||Kharas Region.

The Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Carl Schlettwein, held an engagement with stakeholders on the envisaged development plans of the Neckartal Dam.

!Gawachab Conservancy signs land lease agreement with Ikhaya Somandla Family Enterprise

The !Gawachab Conservancy in ||Kharas Region has signed a 30-year land lease agreement with Ikhaya Somandla Family Enterprise to pave the way for the development of a billion-dollar renewable energy project.

||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick witnessed the agreement signing at Keetmanshoop. 

Over N$450,000 raised at Luderitz Crayfish Festival Gala Dinner

More than N$450,000 was raised during the 2023 Luderitz Crayfish Festival Gala Dinner.

The festival is slated for the weekend of April 27–29.

The primary objective of the festival is to position the town of Luderitz as a tourism destination as well as serve as a platform for businesses and individuals to invest in the town.

Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Silvia Makgone launched the 2023 festival.

Minister Sioka calls for multi-sectoral approach to ending gender-based violence

The government has reiterated its call for a multi-sectoral approach to tackling Gender-Based Violence.

The Minister of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare, Doreen Sioka addressed a belated International Human Rights Day and Women's Day commemoration at Keetmanshoop. 

In a message delivered on her behalf by ||Kharas Governor, Aletha Frederick, Sioka paid tribute to Namibian women, who sacrificed their lives in resistance to forced removals from the Old Location to Katutura, by South African apartheid forces on 10 December 1959. 

Aussenkehr Primary School phases out the platoon school system

Aussenkehr Primary School at Aussenkehr Farms in the ||Kharas Region has phased out the platoon school system - thanks to the recent completion of six new classrooms, courtesy of Mobile Telecommunications Company, MTC. 

The school was forced to follow the platoon system, splitting learners into morning and afternoon classes, due to the lack of classrooms.

||Kharas Governor, Aletha Frederick inaugurated the classrooms and two storerooms - built at a combined cost of N$1,3 million, through the MTC Rural School Project. 

Collective efforts needed to fight corruption- Frederick

||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has reiterated that collective efforts are needed to fight corruption, thereby maintaining a healthy nation. 

She was speaking at a regional stakeholders meeting that deliberated on the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan Implementation at Keetmanshoop. 

Frederick says the regional platform was created to share information and engage stakeholders regarding the progress of implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan. 

||Kharas youth praised for striving towards achieving economic independence

||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has praised the youth of Bethanie Village for constantly striving towards achieving economic independence.

Addressing guests at a fundraising dinner, Frederick said it was pleasing to see that young people realised they needed to do more to provide solutions to their daily life challenges.

The dinner was organised by the Begin to Imagine youth group to raise funds for their planned Youth Talent Expo at the tiny settlement next month.

||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick has distributed assorted baby items to mothers of newborn babies at Bethanie Village, courtesy of the Office of the First Lady.

45 mothers benefited from the donation, which included wipes, nappies, facecloths, baby oil, blankets, towels, and bags.

Frederick encouraged all government institutions, offices, ministries, and agencies as well as the private sector to come on board and make sure that all Namibians have access to services, resources, and information.
