The family of O'Linn Nauyoma, who drowned in Lake Guinas last September, say they have been having sleepless nights since the incident.
They are, however, confident that the recovered remains belong to their 16-year-old son.
Nauyoma's family has been finding it difficult to come to terms with his absence, following his drowning death while attending a prefect camp.
The remains were found more than 100 meters under the water by a sports diver from Germany.
While the family believes the remains are those of Nauyoma, that is to be determined by forensic DNA testing.
The Education, Arts, and Culture Ministry will pay for the retrieval of the remains as well as for a plaque to be erected at Lake Guinas in honour of O'Linn Nauyoma.
