Sam Shololo (45), one of the accused in the NAMDIA diamond heist, has been discharged from a state hospital in Windhoek, police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi has confirmed.

Shololo is alleged to have suffered several gunshot wounds and was hospitalized on the night of the violent robbery.

He is charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, among other offenses, and is expected to appear on May 23 alongside his co-accused.

His co-accused, Joel Angula, appeared at the Windhoek Magistrate's Court last week, and the matter was postponed to May 23 for further police investigations.

NAMDIA has yet to schedule a press conference to shed light on the most daring theft of diamonds. The company has still not disclosed the exact value of the stolen gems nor the quantity.

The robbery resulted in two lives lost: the company’s senior protection officer and Max Endjala, one of the suspected robbers who allegedly died by suicide after the police closed in on the scene.
