The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD) has warned the public about a fake tender circulating on social media, falsely claiming government involvement in a large-scale construction project.
In a statement, the ministry said the fraudulent document invites bids for the construction of 28,500 houses, a shopping mall, and a private hospital. It misleadingly bears the name of MURD and cites the ministry’s executive director as the supposed author.
Additionally, the document features what appears to be a date stamp from the Ministry of Works and Transport and demands a non-refundable bidding fee of N$40,000.
MURD has confirmed that neither it nor the Ministry of Works and Transport is involved in such a tender.
The public is urged to remain cautious, avoid making payments, and verify all official tenders through legitimate government communication channels.
