The nbc's Kaisames FM radio service held a special live programme at the Tani Da Re church in Windhoek to honour the legacy of the late Dr. Hage Geingob.

The commemorative night brought to light the significance of Khoe-Khoe mourning traditions and their role in preserving culture and heritage.

Mourning is a sacred part of Khoe-Khoe heritage, serving as a connection between the past and present, grieving and healing, as well as family and community.

However, modernisation has led to the erosion of traditional mourning customs.

The night vigil was aimed at reviving cultural practices by highlighting the role of music, storytelling, and communal support in the grieving process.

Heartfelt tributes to the late President Dr. Hage Geingob, reflecting his leadership, contributions, and legacy, became a heritage lesson to those in attendance.

Historians, musicians, and community leaders shared their expertise, with live-recorded mourning songs creating a deeply reflective atmosphere.

Family members of the late president also attended the vigil.
