Three of the four suspects involved in the theft and sale of two Rottweiler dogs in Swakopmund made their first appearance at the Swakopmund Magistrate's Court today.
They were each granted bail of N$3,000.
The fourth suspect, who is underage, was released into the care of his parents.
The incident took place at Matutura, near the municipality container.
The dogs, who are two and three years old, are valued at N$5,000 each.
The dogs were stolen from the complainant's residence while she was inside. The owner noticed her dogs were missing when she went to feed them and discovered a hole dug under the fence. The search revealed that four young men had stolen the animals.
The victim later found one of her dogs at a house in the DRC location whose owner bought them for N$200.
However, the male dog had already been killed with an axe and sold for kapana.
The three suspects are 20-year-old Skrywer Seth, 20-year-old Marrando Bloostaan, and 18-year-old Laurens Nanub.
The case has been postponed until February 18th as police continue their investigations.
