The former Governor of the ||Kharas Region, Lucia Basson, has called on the Namibian nation to unite in honouring Founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma's legacy of fostering peace, unity and stability in the country.
Speaking to nbc News, the former Governor described the Founding President as a fearless freedom fighter, who played a central role in the country's liberation struggle against apartheid.
"Let's continue with his legacy as a fearless freedom fighter who liberated Namibia. And he wants only peace for his country, peace, unity. Whatever the circumstances in Namibia, we can differ on different issues, politically. We differ on development, you know poverty, whatever. But, let us be united and fight and attack. and whatever circumstances there are, let us stand together as Namibians because he left a peaceful and stable country for us. So, we must work on that and continue his legacy because he is a person who likes peace and unity. So our weapon from now onwards should be unity, unity love for each other and peace. That's what I want for you as Namibians."
The former governor praised the late Nujoma as a revolutionary and a leader who championed women's leadership.
