In the Zambezi Region, leaders and veterans of the liberation struggle came together at Katima Mulilo to honour the memory of the late Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma.
As they signed the book of condolences, heartfelt tributes were shared, reflecting on the immense role Dr. Nujoma played in shaping Namibia's history and inspiring generations.
Among the attendees were Governor Lawrence Sampofu, Warden Simushi the Chairperson of the Zambezi Regional Council, John Ntemwa the Mayor of Katima Mulilo, members of the Bukalo village council, members of the Swapo Party leadership, and the local business community.
Speaking on behalf of the former plan combatants in the Zambezi Region was Georgina Mwiya, who described the late Founding President as a unifier and a man who did not practice discrimination.
Mwiya also praised Nujoma for continuing the work to build the nation, adding how he was invested in education for all as the key to developing an independent Namibia.
Another former PLAN combatant, John Tubalele, who met and engaged with the former president in Zambia during the liberation struggle, described the late Nujoma as a philosopher.
