Namport's CEO, Andrew Kanime, says Founding President Sam Nujoma had a keen interest in the company's operations and had consistently made time to assess the progress of the ports.

Dr. Nujoma's involvement in the growth of Namport's operations, Kanime said, inspired employees to recognise the importance of their roles as custodians of this critical national asset.

Kanime emphasised that Nujoma took great pride in observing how the ports contributed to both national and regional development.

He was also a strong advocate for regional integration, frequently reminding those involved in port operations that the ports did not belong to Namibia alone, but to the entire region and even to the African continent as a whole.

"At Namport, we celebrate his enduring legacy, which we liken to a lighthouse that guides a ship through stormy waters. Just as a lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope and direction, Dr. Nujoma steered us through the rough seas of anti-colonial rule to independence, bringing freedom to all Namibians. Just like an anchor, his steadfast spirit and resolve rooted the struggle, and just like a compass, his foresight guided us to a nation reconciled, united, and jointly working for the economic prosperity of all. As we reflect on Dr. Nujoma's remarkable life and legacy, let us find comfort in the words of Scripture: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul." (Psalm 23:1-3)."

According to Kanime, Dr. Nujoma's vision has borne significant fruit, as Namibia's ports are now thriving hubs of commerce that not only support local development but also foster stronger ties with neighbouring countries and the global community.
