Residents of the ||Kharas and Hardap regions filled Keetmanshoop's J. Stephanus Stadium to capacity to pay homage to the late Founding President Sam Nujoma at a solemn memorial, honouring his legacy and contributions.

Government officials and the public at large attended the memorial service, which featured tributes and messages of condolences to the Nujoma family.

Representing the Chief Mourner, Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa remembered Nujoma as the leader of the Namibian revolution, who remained committed to the country's liberation.

"Your spirit, your soul, your legacy, and your numerous good and noble exemplary works as a citizen of Namibia, as a statesman of our country, cannot die, and shall never die. For us as mortal human beings, who can never get used to death. Death is always perceived to be an unwelcome robber and unwelcome thief."

Paying tributes, speaker after speaker reflected on the Founding Father of the Namibian Nation's role in the liberation struggle that led to the country's freedom from the South African apartheid regime.
