The President of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, says the death of Namibia's Founding President, Sam Nujoma, is a loss to both countries.

Hernández reiterated condolences as expressed by Cuba's President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and former President Raúl Castro Ruz.

The Cuban top legislator delivered official letters from the two Cuban leaders to President Nangolo Mbumba at State House on Saturday.

Hernández says, therefore, the high-level Cuban delegation's presence at the state funeral service of Nujoma demonstrates Cuba's solidarity with Namibia during this difficult period.

The delegation, which included senior officials from the Communist Party of Cuba, the military, and the government, paid their final respects to the late Nujoma on behalf of the island nation.

The Cuban leader also shared that the deep bond between the late revolutionaries, Fidel Castro and Nujoma, continues to serve as a basis for cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.

He appealed to Namibians to never forget these ideals, as reiterated by President Mbumba during the speech at the memorial service.
