Namibian long-distance runner Helalia Johannes has joined the nation in mourning the passing of the late Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma.

The President of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, says the death of Namibia's Founding President, Sam Nujoma, is a loss to both countries.

The former chief pilot of Ethiopian Airlines, who flew the flight that brought Founding President Sam Nujoma back to Namibia in 1989, commended President Nangolo Mbumba for a befitting send-off accorded to the late leader.

President Nangolo Mbumba has expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from Namibians to accord a final send-off to Founding President Sam Nujoma, who was buried on Saturday.

Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, Namibia's Founding President and Father of the Nation, has received numerous prestigious international honours and awards in recognition of his enduring legacy.

President Sam Nujoma heroically marshalled the Namibian people during the darkest hours of our liberation struggle until the attainment of freedom and independence from Apartheid South Africa on the 21st of March 1990.

Founding President Dr. Sam Nujoma has called on Namibians to strive for a united, egalitarian society.

This message was delivered during the memorial service in honour of Professor Gerhard Tötemeyer.

The South West Africa People's Organization, SWAPO, is a political party and former liberation movement in Namibia. 

Founded 62 years ago, it has been the governing party since the country achieved independence in 1990. 

The Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, has reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring a regional road network that supports economic growth.
