The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) is requesting that the general public share all material produced with regards to the passing and honouring of Founding President Sam Nujoma, including condolences.

The material will be shared with the family as well as with the National Archives of Namibia.

Minister Emma Theofelus, in an update on the just-concluded mourning period for the Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, called for footage to be forwarded to the email: foundingpresident@mict.gov.na.

Theofelus thanked the nation for the exemplary conduct shown during the mourning process.

"On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia, and on behalf of His Excellency, President, our Commander in Chief, I would like to thank the entire Namibian nation for according befitting farewell to our leader. President Mbumba has observed that the respect the citizens have shown during the period of mourning of our Founding President is indicative of the appreciation we all have for the freedom, independence, peace, and stability brought about by President Nujoma."

The minister also clarified that the Heroes' Arce is a wheelchair-friendly site.

"There were sentiments that the Heroes' Acre is not conducive for persons with disabilities. I would like to clarify that the Heroes' Acre is wheelchair friendly, and all citizens can go up to the mausoleum."

Theofelus further took time to appreciate President Nangolo Mbumba for leading the nation through two consecutive years of mourning.

"Finally, I would like to thank His Excellency, President Mbumba, as Commander in Chief of the Namibian Defence Forces. President Mbumba has led us as a nation for two consecutive years during the darkest periods, I would say, in Namibia, since our independence, we have not experienced such dark moments. President Mbumba, I know the nation joins me in thanking you sincerely. To you, we say thank you. May the soul of our Founding President rest in peace."
