Loide Kali, widowed at 31, shares her story in her book, "A Widow Like You," to inspire others facing similar struggles. Originally written for her children to preserve their father’s memory, the book became part of her healing journey.
Over eight years, Kali found clarity, rediscovered love, and remarried, embracing a new season of happiness. Her book offers practical insights for widows on healing and rebuilding life after loss.
Kali reflects on the challenges of being a young widow: raising children alone, financial pressures, and redefining her identity. She describes the loneliness and uncertainty of losing a partner.
"You are all by yourself; it's a long journey, and you need to navigate around that. Obviously, the finances that come with it and also just the society, and you are young, and that is the reality of it. You are not in your 80s to say that I am just going to wait on the Lord to come and take me."
"When I met my husband, the excitement that was in my heart, I'm like, I can't believe I feel like this. I never thought I was going to feel like this. So life comes back, but then it's a process; it's a journey, and you must just learn to be in it until that life comes back again. But then the assurance is that life comes back again. Life is about seasons, you know, in the winter, and then the summer comes, and then the spring. And that's what's beautiful about it, because it's not just eternity; like, this is how life is going to be."
