Close to 700 workers from Gendev Group at Walvis Bay petitioned the company, demanding full-time employment and protesting what they call "unfair labour conditions."
The workers, many of whom have been with the company for over a decade, say they are in limbo with no clear indication of their employment status.
A significant number of these workers have remained on temporary contracts under a no work, no pay policy.
The majority of those affected are those in the whitefish processing and packaging departments.
The workers say that they have not had any work since December last year and have not received any income.
Management, they say, has yet to provide any updates regarding the status of the factory's operations or the workers' future employment, leaving many in a state of uncertainty.
In the Horse Mackerel department, workers say they have faced even more difficulties. For months, employees have only been paid for 4.5 hours of work per day, a schedule that does not meet their financial needs.
Since last year, workers nbc News spoke to say that their department has struggled to make ends meet.
Workers are also dissatisfied with the company's pension fund system.
"The workers demand that their pension fund be transferred to Alexander Forbes. We cannot be forced to have our fund be administered with the company, which we are not happy with. We also demand that the workers who work on white fish be given a chance to work since they did not work at all this year. There is no justification for the company to discriminate against these workers," said Aina Nampweya, speaking on behalf of the workers.
The employees allege a disconnect between the pension fund contributions of management and those of the workers.
The petition was handed over to the company's acting Managing Director, Roby Rees, who promised that the company would respond back in writing.
