The Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, Wise Immanuel, has clarified that the government cannot directly intervene in the ongoing Namib Mills strike, as the matter constitutes a dispute of interest rather than a dispute of rights.

Exclusion of uniformed workers 'Draconian' – Jauch

Labour expert Herbert Jauch said that uniformed workers being excluded from the Labour Act is a draconian approach that contradicts the Constitution and Namibia's own Labour Act.

He believes there must be mechanisms for affected members to raise concerns collectively so that justice is done.

Hangana Seafood workers petition over job security

600 temporary workers at Hangana Seafood have officially submitted a petition to management claiming discrimination and unfair labour practices.

Many of these workers say they have been on temporary contracts since 2018 and now seek permanent jobs.

NARETU supports striking workers with 70% salary payout

The Namibian Revolutionary Transport and Manufacturing Union (NARETU) has stepped in to pay 70% of their monthly salary to the striking employees of Pretorius Plant Hire.

The eight employees have been on a 'no work, no pay' strike for 43 days since March.
