Media practitioners play a critical role in shaping the public's understanding of climate change.

For this reason, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism hosted a one-day media training session on climate change to equip journalists with essential knowledge on how to report on it.

It is accepted that journalists have the power to influence how communities and policymakers perceive the climate change crisis and how to tackle it.

The climate reporting training offered to journalists is therefore aligned with Namibia's National Climate Change Policy, which calls for the active participation of the media in informing and educating the public about the causes, impacts, and interventions.

This, in return, will ensure that communities are empowered on how to adapt and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Despite efforts to acknowledge the media as a crucial partner in raising public awareness, streamlining information access, and fostering active involvement in climate change initiatives,

Journalists have been urged to familiarise themselves with the National Determined Contributions and the National Climate Change Policies to better their reporting.
