The Mole beachfront recreation area in Swakopmund is set for a major transformation, with the official handover of the N$4.8 million Mole Cubicles Upgrade Project scheduled for completion by December 2025.
According to the General Manager of Engineering and Planning Services at the Municipality of Swakopmund, Clarence McClune, the council decided on the upgrade because the Mole is a popular tourist attraction.
The council has proposed a plan to enclose the cubicles and, on top of them, construct seating areas for visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the ocean.
In addition, a modern lighthouse tower will be built, alongside new ablution facilities, a security room, and a sea rescue room.
These upgrades aim to enhance safety and comfort for both residents and visitors.
The project is expected to be completed within 10 to 12 months, with a target completion date set for December.
