MultiChoice Namibia has empowered more than 800 local filmmakers through their Ombura film project.

Now in its second phase, the project has produced close to 19 Namibian films available on DStv, GOtv and Showmax, bringing Namibian stories into households across the continent.

Namibians have for far too long yearned for their own authentic stories on TV screens.

The initiative of MultiChoice started with the Mukorob film project in 2023, and now Ombura is in its second season.

Namibians get to enjoy their stories, identify their surroundings and relate to the characters in these films.

The Managing Director of MultiChoice, Roger Gertze, reaffirmed MultiChoice's investment in training, funding and supporting local talent.

Since 2017, MultiChoice has embarked on a talent factory for filmmakers across the continent, including Namibia.

The factory fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, giving young people the confidence to start their projects and businesses in the film industry.

11 Namibians have so far graduated from the MultiChoice Talent Factory in Zambia, which is a year-long programme.

The second phase of Ombura will produce four films, a documentary, season two of Op Pad Met My Potjie, a new season of Groen Namibie and an exciting Channel O music request show with a local artist.

Namibians can expect these films on Zambezi Magic, KykNet, and Channel O later this year.

The old Namibian films are still accessible on DStv, GOtv and Showmax.
