Students from the Atlantic Training Institute (ATI), located in the Northern Industrial area, marched in frustration over the institution's decision to discontinue the Auxiliary Nursing Bridging Programme, for which they have already paid tuition.

The students are demanding the return of their tuition fees, estimated at N$ 29,000.

They were expecting to continue with a Bachelor of Enrolled Nursing program to obtain their academic certificates.

 However, they claim they only received a mass text message from the institution announcing that the Health Professional Council had discontinued the course.

Despite three formal negotiation attempts with the leadership of the National African Student Association, the students report that the institution has not provided satisfactory answers.

Lukas Haipinge, Vice Chairperson of the National African Student Association, delivered the petition and issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the institution to resolve the issue.

Mureko stated that while the institution is addressing the situation with the council, it is offering students the opportunity to switch to other courses if they are interested. He also accused the institution of ignoring the students' demands and lacking transparency.

In response, Nelvin Mureko, Director and Co-founder of the institution, explained that they are still working with the Health Professional Council, which informed them mid-year about the course's discontinuation.

Mureko criticized the Health Professional Council for their abrupt decision, stating there was no prior warning or announcement.

He reassured students, saying, 

"Thank you for the petition; it is well received. Please rest assured that this unfortunate issue is receiving our utmost attention."

He reiterated that while they are addressing the situation, students can switch courses if they wish.
