Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare and Works Minister Veikko Nekundi have extended their condolences on behalf of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and the Namibian Government to the families of six victims allegedly murdered by a 17-year-old male family member in Usakos' Hakhaseb area.

Prime Minister Ngurare urged all Namibians to keep the grieving families in their thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable tragedy.

He stressed the importance of society condemning such violent acts and called for unity and compassion in these difficult times.

The 17-year-old suspect appeared before the Usakos Magistrate's Court today, facing charges of obstructing justice in relation to the alleged murders that took place early Saturday morning. The matter has been postponed to May 28 to allow for further investigations.

According to police reports, the suspect entered the victims' room and attacked them with an iron axe and a knobkierie before setting their bodies on fire, resulting in first- to second-degree burns.

Ngurare expressed deep concern about the incident, stating, "When a young person of that age commits such an act, it is extremely worrisome and heartbreaking. Lives are lost in such tragic ways. While the police are handling the situation, Her Excellency has asked us to be with the families, to console them, and to convey her condolences. We must stand together for every household facing challenges, just as we do for those in the media. In times of hardship, we must unite, and our tears will reflect our solidarity."
