The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Elsie Nghikembua, says that the supplementary registration of voters is not merely a procedural step but a commitment to inclusivity and representation as outlined in the Electoral Act.

While addressing voter registration officials for the upcoming by-election, Dr. Nghikembua reminded them that the integrity and security of the voter registration system are critical in maintaining public trust in elections.

She urged them to approach the task of voter registration with the utmost seriousness.

She advised officials to attend voter registration training with good intentions and to disclose if they do not, so they are not included.

The ECN Chairperson emphasised that voter registration officials are expected to assist the commission in carrying out this important national responsibility within their jurisdiction, adhering to the Electoral Act 5 of 2014.

She further encouraged them to approach the process of preparing for and conducting the by-election with enthusiasm and dedication.

Dr. Nghikembua stressed that the commission will not tolerate any behaviour that compromises its commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.

The supplementary registration of voters will take place from April 10th to 12th for the Kabbe South, Grootfontein, Otjiwarongo, Sesfontein, and Kamanjab constituencies.

Dr. Nghikembua addressed  voter registration officials at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region on Tuesday.
