Two men, Andreas Akwaake (53) and Immanuel Iipinge (39), were arrested in Noordoewer on March 28 for being in possession of N$750,000 in cash.

The suspects appeared before the Karasburg Magistrate's Court last week and were subsequently denied bail.

A state prosecutor on Wednesday linked the arrest to the NAMDIA diamonds robbery when he informed the court that two arrests have been made in the south, but Deputy Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Major General Anna-Marie Nainda, said it is premature at this stage to connect this arrest to the NAMDIA robbery.

Akwaake and Iipinge are facing charges for contravening the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA).

Police investigations are ongoing.
