Swapo MP Alexia Manombe-Ncube has urged that the 2025/2026 National Budget specifically address the needs of persons with disabilities (PWDs) across key sectors.

In her remarks during the budget debate in the National Assembly, Manombe-Ncube emphasized the necessity for increased funding to foster inclusion in health, education, transport, agriculture, and economic development. She underscored the importance of expanding access to assistive technologies, such as wheelchairs and hearing aids, and ensuring that both education and public infrastructure are fully accessible to PWDs.

Additionally, she proposed the creation of a dedicated fund within the Ministry of Transport to enhance accessibility in public transport and infrastructure. In the agricultural sector, she called on the government to address the needs of disabled farmers by providing adapted tools and transportation assistance.

Manombe-Ncube also advocated for the inclusion of PWDs in economic empowerment programs, such as fisheries quotas and entrepreneurship funding, to improve their financial independence. Furthermore, she urged the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare to strengthen initiatives focused on disability and ensure that programs addressing gender-based violence are inclusive of PWDs.
