Initiatives to address unemployment, housing and land delivery, and quality education to match the job market requirements are some of the priority areas that are likely to feature strongly in President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's State of the Nation Address tomorrow.
Press Secretary Alfredo Hengari says President Nandi-Ndaitwah is cognisant of the challenges facing the country and credits her with having the ammunition and the drive to address these.
He says the president has already outlined as a priority ways to address unemployment in the Swapo Party election manifesto and stands guided by its implementation plan.
Similarly, Hengari says, the recently tabled national budget innately provides insights into the administration's resolve to cater to the needs of the citizens.
"You can see the priorities in that budget. Education is the largest recipient. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is saying that we need to deal with the question of youth unemployment, fuel creative industries and sports infrastructure, and allow young people to start businesses."
Political analysts, however, are of the view that bold pronouncements must be followed by equally daring actions.
Political Analyst Prof. Phanuel Kaapama said, "In this very first SONA, I would be very disappointed if I just hear a statement ending with natural resources beneficiation. I would want to see a progression from first statements to that which will give us a vision as to how that is going to be done, which natural resources, how are they going to benefit, and in terms of revenue, projections from short-term, medium-term to long-term, so those would be some of the issues that would ensure the vision has some clear structure being done."
The State of the Nation Address will be broadcast live on all NBC platforms starting at 14:00.
