Broad-Band Investment (BBI) has handed over food and non-food items to the Kanovlei Primary School in the Tsumkwe constituency to help improve learning conditions.
BBI was founded to engage and seize sustainable business opportunities, create wealth, and provide meaningful employment opportunities for fellow Namibians, particularly the youth.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Broad-Band investment was one of the shareholders, Kileni Fernando.
"In August 2018, the shareholder of BBI selected Kanovlei Primary School as one of the beneficiaries of our social responsibility investment. As a beneficiary of BBI's corporate social research investment, Kanovlei Primary School is in a position to benefit in terms of donations that will be earmarked for the well-being of the school, its environment, and its student population."
For the 2024/2025 fishing season, BBI was allocated 4.5 metric tonnes.
"BBI believes strongly in giving back to the country and its communities as part of its social responsibility obligations. Our corporate social investment objectives include the economic empowerment of needy people and vulnerable communities, as identified in our Namibian society. In Namibia today, more than at any time before, education can bring about positive changes to the lives of individuals and communities."
On behalf of the Tsumkwe constituency councillors, the Tsumkwe constituency control administrative officer, Frederika Nenghama, expressed appreciation to the company.
"It is evident that they understand the pressing needs of our schools, particularly the importance of providing essential stationery and learning materials to enable teachers to deliver quality education to every Namibian child. Furthermore, BBI has shown commendable awareness that education cannot thrive where learners are hungry."
Kanonvlei school principal Arnold Ebay also expressed gratitude for the donation.
"This food has become ours; now we must be the owners, and we must value this food and this investment in our school. When we talk about food, it's energy, and when we talk about photocopy paper, it's knowledge. Let's combine these two things so that they work, as they are wishing us happiness with these few words. I'm so grateful for accepting this food on behalf of Kanovlei Primary School staff and community."
Once resources become available, Broad Band Investment pledged to provide 30 mattresses to the school as well as funding for the erection of a sign at the entrance to the Kanovlei Primary School, as requested by the school.
