Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare pledged that the N$371 million budget for the National Planning Commission will be used to support development projects and help the country stay on track to reach its long-term goals under Vision 2030.

In his budget motivation, Dr. Ngurare submitted that the NPC budget for this year will fund key activities, such as tracking the progress of national programmes and strengthening relationships with international development partners.

He also reflected on some achievements from the 2024/25 year, including completing the National Population and Housing Census and releasing the 2024 Poverty, Vulnerability, and Inequality Report.

"Mobilised Official Development Assistance from various development partners, amounting to N$2.5 billion, which equates to 2.5% of the national budget for the year, is a crucial source of funding that complements the financing of our development programmes."

A large part of the budget will go towards planning for regional development, evaluating programmes, and supporting important services like national surveys conducted by the Namibia Statistics Agency.

The budget will also help fund the building of a new office for the NPC, which will improve their service and administrative work.

"Included under this programme is the allocation of a N$60 million development budget for the purchase of the office building for the National Planning Commission."

The Prime Minister asked the National Assembly to approve the budget, as he believes it will help the NPC carry out the country's development goals.
