Kunene Governor Vipuakuje Muharukua has concluded engagements with young people in the region with an aim to gather particulars of the jobless youth.
The strategy will allow his office to ensure that the youth benefit from employment opportunities in the region.
The governor has been engaging youth in each constituency.
Muharukua clarified that the Swapo Party's manifesto for job creation is clear and requires action.
The government will allocate N$85 billion towards job creation in the hope of tackling youth unemployment over a period of five years.
During the campaign, the president, who is from the Swapo Party, has promised that it will create jobs for young people. We won the elections as the president's party, so we have to fulfil that promise as a party. In the Kunene Region, we need no statistics. We don't want to know that there are 20 young people who don't have work in Kunene."
Data collected will be linked to prospective employers in both the government and the private sectors.
"We want to know who you are that does not have a job. So that when companies come to our region, we are able to say, You want to do mining; we have these fifty young people; choose from those fifty young people, because they are interested in mining. We want to know if a company needs tailors. We can reach you on your phone and say, Call these people; they are tailors in Outjo; they are young people."
