Police in the Erongo Region are continuing their search for a man who reportedly jumped into the sea from the Swakopmund jetty in an apparent suicide attempt.

According to a police report, the unidentified man is described as having a fair complexion and was dressed in a red t-shirt, blue trousers, a grey cap, and black sunglasses. Eyewitnesses told police that the man had been wandering along the beach before suddenly jumping into the ocean.

Emergency services, including the sea rescue team, responded to the scene and have been conducting an extensive search since yesterday. As of now, the man’s whereabouts remain unknown.

The police are urging anyone who may be missing a relative or who has information that could assist in identifying the individual to contact Detective Chief Inspector Dino Skrywer at 081 422 3210, Detective Warrant Officer Epson Ronnie Gariseb at 081 203 1808, or report to the nearest police station.

Investigations and the search operation are ongoing.
