The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) hosted a delegation from the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation as part of a benchmarking visit.
The visit aims to help the two public broadcasters share knowledge, improve their services and strengthen regional ties.
NBC Chairperson Lazarus Jacobs welcomed the MBC team.
Jacobs said that it is imperative that public broadcasters provide accurate and trustworthy information.
The chairperson said that in today's digital world, where anyone with a phone can publish content, national broadcasters must lead with credible and balanced reporting.
"We are pleased to receive visitors from all over, especially for benchmarking. These types of initiatives help us grow."
Jacobs mentioned that one of the major challenges for public broadcasters is funding. He said it is important to invest in people and keep skilled workers to ensure quality service.
The MBC team was led by Board Chairperson Reverend Vasco Kachipapa and Director General George Kasakula.
The two expressed their broadcaster's eagerness to learn from the NBC.
NBC Director General Stanley Similo also gave a presentation on NBC's operations and shared strategies used by the Namibian broadcaster.
This is the second visit by a broadcaster from the Southern African Development Community this year.
Last month, Eswatini's national broadcaster also visited the NBC for a similar learning exchange.
