Police in the Zambezi Region are investigating a case of attempted murder after a man was shot at Joefrys Cattle Post in the Kanono area on Thursday evening, following a domestic dispute.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the evening.
The suspect, who is on the run, Tiki Muyombo, allegedly shot 38-year-old Malunge Malunge, a Zambian national, in the abdomen and right hand with a shotgun.
The victim sustained serious injuries and is admitted to Rundu State Hospital in a stable condition.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the Muyombo, who is reportedly the ex-boyfriend of the victim's current partner, travelled from the Linyanti area to the cattle post earlier that day to demand custody of his two children.
After the woman refused, he left but returned later in the evening and threatened to separate her from her current boyfriend before allegedly opening fire on Malunge.
Muyombo fled the scene on foot, leaving behind the shotgun.
Efforts to trace Muyombo have so far been unsuccessful, and the police couldn't find him.
Informants have been activated in both Kanono and Linyanti in an attempt to track him down.
The police have urged anyone with information regarding Muyombo's whereabouts to contact their nearest police station.
