Prime Minister Dr Elijiah Ngurare has called on Namibian entrepreneurs to shift their focus toward manufacturing and value addition to help grow the country’s economy.

Speaking at the Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition gala dinner, Dr Ngurare emphasised government’s support for businesses that create jobs and add value locally.

Dr Ngurare said collaboration between the public and private sectors is vital to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and resources needed to innovate and expand value chains.

"I therefore call on all offices, ministries and agencies of government to ensure that there exists a smooth relationship with our business community, especially Namibian entrepreneurs," he said.

He praised the Ondangwa Town Council for its ongoing efforts to position the town as a hub for industrialisation and economic growth.

"Local authorities play a fundamental role in supporting these priorities, and I commend the Ondangwa Town Council for its dedication to local economic development. I urge all stakeholders, including government agencies, business leaders, and civil society organisations, to work hand in hand to achieve these objectives and propel Namibia towards a prosperous future."

Dr Ngurare said innovation is key to economic progress, wealth creation and poverty reduction.

The gala dinner was held to raise funds for the 12th edition of the Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition, set for 27 June to 5 July 2025.

In support of the event, the Prime Minister pledged N$5,000.

The event raised N$740,600. The highest pledge came from Rani Group with N$100,000, followed by FNB with N$80,000 and Ondangwa Private Hospital with N$30,000.
